Professional Profile

Upon graduation with First Class Honours from Leeds and Cambridge universities, Probin joined the legal service as a Justices Law Clerk where he assisted the justices of the Supreme Court and gained valuable insight into the decision-making process at the highest levels.

In private practice since 2001, Probin has extensive experience in international trade disputes involving all aspects such as trade finance, credit insurance, insolvency, and shipping. With a varied background including years practicing as a ship finance lawyer in international firms as well as a stint in a P&I Club he brings to his practice a depth of understanding which is commercial and practical.

Probin has acted for some of the largest financial institutions and advised on disputes involving letters of credit and bills of exchange, claims under credit insurance policies, and cargo claims pursuant to bills of lading including ship arrest in various jurisdictions. He has also advised on the enforcement of other security rights such as mortgages, personal and corporate guarantees, share charges, accounts charges, and pledges against both solvent and insolvent entities. On the other hand, he has also advised judicial managers and liquidators in the administration and liquidation of insolvent entities.
